Watching this video gave me some insight on the mind of a successful working graphic design professional. It reinforced the importance to pursue further private education in the arts, and also the political strength behind recognized arts organizations. He is the national president of American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) founded in 1914. They hold and curate a huge archive of works by some of the top designers. Besides going over AIGA's story, he talked about his path as a professional and suggestions for up and coming artists such as:
- Use your sources; teachers, peers, friends and other colleagues
- Learn from different media
- Explore blogs, trends and world cultures
- Design a focused portfolio: tangible and digital
He also explored topics like career paths such as teaching. Overall I think his message was that as an artist you never stop learning and growing; always evolving and moving forward.
